Editorial design / accountability / publication

Annual Report Design in Alaska.

A year of work deserves more than a spreadsheet pasted into a PDF. FOURAK shapes approved reporting content into a clear annual publication, with the visual hierarchy, photography and production specifications needed for print and screen.

01 / Who this is for

A design system that has a job to do.

Nonprofits, Alaska Native organizations, foundations, associations, professional firms and other teams preparing financial, program or impact reporting.

The problem we solve

Annual reports combine audited or board-approved numbers, leadership messages, program highlights, donor acknowledgments and long captions. Without an editorial plan, late edits can cause inconsistent figures, crowded spreads and a painful print deadline.

Good reporting design helps people understand the results, find material facts and recognize the organization behind them. We prioritize typography, clear data labels, restrained brand elements and a reviewable sign-off process.

02 / Our approach

Built for the real-world workflow.

01 / PRODUCTION

Build a content map before layout

We organize the report into a page plan: cover, leadership letter, outcomes, project stories, financial highlights and the appendix or disclosures your team requires. One authorized editor owns final wording and numerical sign-off. Long lists and dense tables are reviewed for readability before the design is finalized.

02 / PRODUCTION

Make data readable, not decorative

Charts need labeled axes, readable contrast, units, sources and careful treatment of small categories. We do not fabricate figures or change the meaning of approved data. Important numbers remain selectable text in the digital version whenever the production workflow allows it.

03 / PRODUCTION

Plan the print and digital editions separately

A print report needs confirmed trim dimensions, paper selection, bleed, image resolution, binding and printer specifications. A screen version needs legible type, logical reading order and working links. Accessibility-focused PDF tagging and verification require an explicit deliverable and test plan; a print PDF is not automatically accessible.

04 / PRODUCTION

Protect the final approval

A report can change after board review or audit sign-off. We track revision versions, ask stakeholders for consolidated comments and require written final proof approval before files go to the printer. Physical printing, distribution and copywriting are scoped separately unless included in the agreement.

03 / Scope

What your design package can include

We tailor deliverables to the intended use and confirm file formats, concepts, rounds and ownership in writing. This list describes available scope items, not an all-inclusive fixed-price bundle.

  • Report page plan and designed cover/spread system
  • Full multi-page report layout using approved words and numbers
  • Image treatment, charts and tables using supplied source data
  • Print-ready PDF built to the selected printer specification
  • Separate optimized digital PDF with live links where scoped
  • Source/package handoff and print-production notes when specified

05 / Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you design an annual report when our content is still being written?

Yes, we can plan the structure and sample spreads first. Final pagination and production depend on approved content. Writing and extensive data cleanup should be scoped separately.

Can you make our annual report accessible?

We can scope accessible digital deliverables, including structure, reading order and PDF checks. Actual conformance depends on the completed content, software workflow and testing.

Do you print and mail annual reports?

We primarily supply design and production files. Printer coordination, mailing and distribution can be included by agreement or handled directly by your vendor.
