Beer labels / pressure-sensitive stocks / compliance space

Craft Beer Label Design in Alaska.

A great beer label has to work after it leaves the screen: on a cold bottle or crowler, around a curve and through storage, handling and distribution. FOURAK designs labels for the actual container and production method.

01 / Who this is for

A design system that has a job to do.

Alaska craft breweries, brewpubs, collaboration teams and limited-run brands needing cohesive bottled, crowler or specialty product labeling.

The problem we solve

Labels can wrinkle at curved seams, lose contrast on metallic surfaces or fail when important text is too close to a die-cut edge. Different label stocks and adhesives also behave differently under condensation and cold.

We build a repeatable visual system for product identification, story, hierarchy and technical packaging constraints, while leaving legal approvals to the producer and regulator.

02 / Our approach

Built for the real-world workflow.

01 / PRODUCTION

Choose the label format first

A bottle front/back set, wraparound bottle label, crowler label and keg collar all use different shapes and materials. We start with the final printer template, label stock, adhesive requirements and application method, then lay out the design.

02 / PRODUCTION

Consider cold, wet surfaces

The label printer and brewer select stock, adhesive and finish appropriate to real storage conditions. We confirm how text and ink will look on that substrate, especially with specialty varnish, uncoated paper or transparent materials. A digital mockup cannot certify durability.

03 / PRODUCTION

Give required information its own space

Artwork should reserve space for the brewery-approved brand and class/type information, net contents, name/address and other applicable declarations and warnings. Whether a COLA is required depends on the beverage and distribution circumstances. We do not claim all beers need the same approval; the brewery verifies rules with the TTB and state authorities.

04 / PRODUCTION

Make revisions traceable

For a seasonal series, we separate design system changes from recipe-specific changes. The brewery confirms the final product facts, label layout and any submissions. Every label file carries an explicit version and approval state to reduce wrong-SKU handoffs.

03 / Scope

What your design package can include

We tailor deliverables to the intended use and confirm file formats, concepts, rounds and ownership in writing. This list describes available scope items, not an all-inclusive fixed-price bundle.

  • Bottle and crowler label concept systems
  • Wraparound, paired front/back or separate small labels
  • Legible product information and barcode placement
  • Printer-dieline-ready layouts and proof files
  • Companion product mockups for approved marketing
  • Versioned SKU artwork and final export package

05 / Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is different about a beer label and a printed beer can?

A label is printed on a separate material and applied to a container; direct-to-can artwork uses the can supplier's own production method. The trim, bleed, seam, color and proofing requirements can differ.

Do craft beer labels need TTB approval?

Some products and distribution channels require a federal Certificate of Label Approval, while others do not. TTB guidance and Alaska requirements should be checked for the specific beverage and route to market.

Can FOURAK help with a series of rotating beers?

Yes. We can create shared identity rules and individual release files so seasonal labels stay recognizable and easier to update.

Will you choose the adhesive or guarantee cold performance?

Your packaging supplier and printer should specify and test materials for cold or wet conditions. We coordinate the graphic layout to their specifications.

Brewery labeling reference: U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) guidance. FOURAK prepares design artwork; approval and regulatory determination remain the producer's responsibility.
