Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: March 2026

At FOURAK, we believe that high-performance web systems must be fully inclusive. We are committed to engineering interfaces that are accessible to all users, regardless of physical or cognitive capabilities.

1. WCAG 2.1 Level AA Compliance Goals

We design and validate our custom React layouts and Astro-compiled static pages to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA benchmarks. These standards serve as our baseline when auditing and launching sites for Alaska Native Corporations, municipal utilities, healthcare clinics, and commercial brands.

2. Implemented Accessibility Features

Our components are built from the ground up to support modern assistive technologies:

  • Semantic HTML Hierarchy: Ensuring proper header structure (H1, H2, H3) and native HTML5 elements so screen readers navigate content logically.
  • Keyboard Focus Management: Enforcing clear focus rings (`focus-visible:ring`) on all interactive buttons, text links, and input forms for mouse-free navigation.
  • Contrast Ratios: Testing all foreground text against background colors to ensure contrast ratios exceed 4.5:1 for standard text (and 3:1 for large text).
  • ARIA Attributes: Applying descriptive `aria-label`, `aria-hidden`, and role definitions to custom interactive blocks (such as mobile menus, form alerts, and maps).
  • Text Resizing: Designing responsive typography using relative units (rem/em) that scale gracefully up to 200% without breaking layouts.

3. Continuous Engineering Reviews

Accessibility is a continuous development process. We integrate automated accessibility audits into our development pipeline (such as Lighthouse and axe-core analysis) and perform manual keyboard walkthroughs before pushing site updates.
